Learning Objectives
After completing this course, the reader should be able to:

  1. Explain the toxicity challenges that limit the use of standard platinum-based therapies in patients with NSCLC.
  2. Discuss the role of topotecan as monotherapy and in combination with other agents in the first-line and second-line treatment of patients with NSCLC and its favorable toxicity profile relative to platinum.
  3. Describe the importance of understanding resistance mechanisms to optimize the efficacy of antitumor therapies such as topotecan.
